Our hopes for Fair Play go far beyond Yaz & Stu’s current knowledge and capability, we’re more than able to deliver the business, the coffee, the boardgames, and the vibe.
In order to meet the nuanced needs of RPG, TCG, war gamers, artists Fair Play needs a range specialist knowledge from employees and collaborators.
Barista / Game Guru
The beating heart of Fair Play! The friendly face that welcomes people through the door – on any given day you’ll swap between busy cafe service, board game somellier and/or rules explainer. We’re 100% open to coupling this with any of our other roles below.
Head Cook
If we have a kitchen – we need a head cook, someone who has top class HACCP knowledge and will be able to take primary responsibility for managing the kitchen. Our initial focus is on simplicity in our offerings, with a focus on getting things right so that we’re best serving vegans, gluten intolerant etc. There will be scope right away for one off events where you can have full creative control, there’s a considerable future budget to expand the kitchen equipment and you could become head chef in a full kitchen.
Arts Advisor
We’re hoping to commission a bunch of works, honestly we’ve no experience of fair prices or how to handle arts commissions, an arts advisor would help keep us on track – there’s definitely scope for you to take on a bunch of the commissions, maybe manage your own art classes or arts events? You’d be able to use our trade network and VAT registered status to purchase & supply the necessary materials for your events, or identify products that we might sell in-store.
Event Organiser
Chess club? Book club? Knitting club? Any gathering that will revel in a low key, comfortable, predictable and welcoming atmosphere will be right at home in Fair Play. We’re here to serve you and your group in any way we can!
TCG Judges
We’re aiming to be WPN, League, OTS, etc. certified (depending on demand). We want to partner with judges to assist in launch events and potentially other competitive and casual events. These will very much be your events that we’re supporting.
Dungeon master
If you’re a dungeon master who’d be able to curate and mange an RPG program, potentially run pay to play RPGs (corporate events?), run training classes, run your own events for fun, then come talk to us! We’re hoping to have private rooms readily equipped for RPG events.
War commander
Pending space availability – we’d love is you could help us with hosting wargames, maybe in a dedicated space, maybe official ITC, maybe specific areas / days of the week, maybe we’ll have a trade account with GWPLC and you can manage our orders from them…
Maker
Pending insurance, food safety and space availability – we’re aiming to have a maker space. A Bambu X2D with a bunch of niche / unique / specialist filament is on the shopping list. With enough space we’ll have a supporting cast of smaller printers. Maybe you’d like to run training, support people who are and aren’t paying for access to our equipment, maybe even taking on commissions if there’s a market for it?
