What is Fair Play?

Fair Play is something we’ve been dreaming up for a while now. It is a tabletop gaming and crafting space we’re working on building in Kilkenny.

It’s the kind of place we always wished existed—somewhere to meet friends, relax with a good coffee, and spend time together after 4pm .. without it having to revolve around the pub.

We want to create a space that feels easy—where you could sit down, pick up a game or a project, and just spend time in a low pressure environment.

We hope you will enjoy it as much as we will 🙂

Let us Introduce Ourselves

It's nice to meet you

Stu

Having done 20 years programming for American corporations I’ve managed to put myself in the absolutely phenomenally fortunate position to give this a go! I’m currently full time working on the site, establishing the company, chasing leads for getting a venue.

Fair Play will be my home away from home, I’m so desperately impatient for this to get started so I can just bask in the good vibes that will be an absolute constant!
My favourite boardgame is Twilight Imperium, but that’s a rare treat, normally I love any game that involves conflict, Coup was probably the first game that properly got me hooked on boardgames.

My craft of choice is woodwork, and I think gardening counts as a craft as well! I’m planning to buy a 3D printer for fair play which I’m guaranteed to become OBSESSED with!

My biggest dream for Fair Play is to host a regular wine + cheese night where I make people listen to my Supertramp albums on vinyl.

Yaz

I’ve spent my working life somewhere between corporate and hospitality—but I always come back to coffee shops. That’s where I come alive. I love getting to know the regulars, their stories, and (just as importantly) their dogs.

After moving to Kilkenny last year, it didn’t take long before it started to feel like home. It’s a place I want to settle into for the long haul—and hopefully give something back to along the way.

When it comes to board games, I lean towards the shorter, easy-to-pick-up kind. I’m always up for a game of Scrabble (even if I’m not winning), and I love the classics like Carcassonne, Splendor, and Azul. For me, it’s less about the game itself and more about the excuse to properly spend time with friends—without everyone half-distracted by their phones.

My main craft these days is sewing. Bunting was the first thing I learned, and it’s still what I keep coming back to—so there’s a good chance you’ll see plenty of it around the place.

Tia

Of course all dogs are the best dogs, but Tia really is the best dog!

She sleeps about 23 hours a day snoring loud enough to wake us up from 2 rooms away.

She gives the best high 5s..

She prays for belly rubs..

Her creative outlet is identifying comfortable sleeping / lying positions. If the right option isn’t readily available she’ll partake in some blanket origami until things are just right.

Hopefully you’ll get to meet her at Fair Play where I’d imagine she’s most excited to have loads of other people to stare at while stomping her feet until they share whatever they’re eating.

Think you could bring something to the team? We will be hiring Cooks, Baristas, Dungeon Masters, Game Gurus, Designers.. and some other thing we don’t even know we need yet!

If it sounds like your vibe, get in touch and we can get talking.

Keep in Touch
